1. Duplicate screens
- Click on Start (Windows button on the bottom left corner of your screen) > Settings > System > Display
- Look for the box that shows your monitor arrangement and click on the/ one of the screens that are duplicating
- The selected screen will be highlighted in blue like below
- Now scroll down until you see 'Multiple displays'
- Make sure 'Extend desktop to this display' is selected
- If there are any other screens duplicating, make sure to follow these steps for that one as well
2. Resolution issues
- Click on Start (Windows button on the bottom left corner of your screen) > Settings > System > Display
- Look for the box that shows your monitor arrangement and click on the/ one of the screens that are displaying the incorrect resolution
- The selected screen will be highlighted in blue like below
- Scroll down to 'Display resolution' and select the resolution you would like to change
- The most common resolution for our devices is 1920 x 1080
- If anymore monitors are facing the same issue, repeat the steps above
3. No display detected
**If your laptop's display is not showing and it is not connected to a dock or monitors, reach out to the Help Desk
**If you're connected monitors are not displaying, follow the steps provided below
- Start by power cycling your computer
- Power the monitor(s) on and off to make sure it is getting power
- If no lights turn on, check the power cable to the monitor to make sure it's plugged in all the way
- If the lights still don't show up, try plugging in a new power cable
- You will either have monitor(s) plugged directly into the computer or into a dock
- If the monitor(s) are plugged into a docking station, follow directions 'A'
- If the monitor(s) are plugged directly into the computer and you do not use a dock, follow directions 'B'
A. The monitor(s) are plugged into a docking station
- Check that the the display cables are plugged into the monitor(s) and docking station all the way
- They may have become loose
- If the dock has any lights on it, make sure they are on
- Our 'Plugable' brand docks should display a blue light and a green light
- If they are not on, check the power cable
- If that doesn't help, try swapping the power cable with another one and see if it works now
- Check the USB cable that is between the laptop and docking station
- Be sure it's plugged in all the way on both ends
- If available, try another USB cable
- If available, swap the display cables with other ones to see if the cables you currently use are faulty
- If the display still isn't showing, reach out to the Help Desk and we'll try refreshing the display drivers (please have your Super User on standby to enter admin credentials)
B. The monitor(s) are directly plugged into the computer
- Check that the display cables are plugged into the monitor(s) and computer all the way
- Swap the display cables for new ones
- If this doesn't work, contact the Help Desk and we'll try refreshing the display drivers (please have your Super User on standby to enter admin credentials)
