How to Set up Authenticator on Personal Phone

Steps for setting up Authenticator app on a new personal phone

For office staff that don't have a work cellphone
MANDATORY STEP: If this is a new device (i.e. authenticator has been set up before), submit a ticket to IT asking to reset your Authenticator. Has to manually be done each time we're changing the Authenticating device

  1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from the App Store or Play Store
  2. Open the app and select the + icon to add a new account
  3. Select Work/School Account
  4. On the work laptop, open a new Incognito Window (right-click on Chrome, select New Incognito Window)
  5. Navigate to Office.com on the laptop and select Sign In
  6. Log in with your laptop credentials; select Next on screen asking for more information
  7. It should populate a QR code; return to the phone
  8. Inside the Authenticator app, select the option saying "Use QR Code"
  9. Scan the code found on the laptop website
  10. Select Next on the laptop website and approve the Authenticator notification
