Fixing Random Teams App Issues

Fixing Random Teams App Issues

We've had quite a few issues with Teams. Microsoft is trying out some new updates and pushing a new version that has some issues.

Items that have helped other employees and other companies:
  • Reset App Data
  • Turn Battery usage up
  • Always use the latest version

To reset the app data, follow the below. It doesn't delete your messages, but will make you re-log in:

How to reset the data on an app

  1. Locate the Teams app icon and hold down on it for a split second to open the menu
  2. Click the lowercase circled i in the top right
  3. Scroll down and click on Storage, then select Clear Data at the bottom and acknowledge the pop up that you do want to clear data
  4. Click the home button to go back to the main screen, and then reopen the Teams app
  5. You may need to log back in to the account that was removed

How to Set Unrestricted Battery usage

  1. Locate the Teams app icon and hold down on it for a split second to open the menu
  2. Click the lowercase circled i in the top right
  3. Scroll down and click on Battery
  4. Select Unrestricted from the battery option
    1. This allows Teams to always be on and looking for updates; otherwise it may "silent" the app for a bit to save battery

And then the last tip is to keep the app up to date so you always get the newest version from Microsoft that has bug fixes. You can update apps in the Play Store app. Link to KB article on that: LINK.
